There is a story of a man who had a near death experience. As he was leaving his body he could see others that were also leaving their body. He noticed that it was light leaving the body. There were many variations of the brightness. Some were quite brilliant while others were dim. He swore to get his light as bright as possible when he regained his life. As you pour the oil and place the wick and light the deeya(oil lamp), remember that within you also lies that light.

May your light keep shining brighter and brighter in whatever action you take: by the love you share with your family and friends, your honest service to others and the earth and most of all your sadhana.
