Purifying the Inner Database

Within us lies a database. Our genetic makeup is created according to what is stored here. It is filled with impressions, emotions, and memories that trigger our thoughts, behavior, and actions. This is karma. It stays with us from lifetime to lifetime. Through these impressions we can become a positive person — or not.

When we witness the flow and let it leave the body, the emotion is released; it no longer becomes a seed stored in the database.

When the Mind Becomes a Storm

There are times when the mind becomes a storm — when thoughts keep circling, when sadness arises for no clear reason, or when the mind‑field becomes active with constant thoughts that do not leave and keep you awake.

This is not a failure. It is a sign that something inside is being stirred, loosened, or released.

When you are caught in this mind‑field, it is an opportunity to grow spiritually. Yoga, breathwork, and meditation help dispel these thoughts and remind you that they are just thoughts — not who you are. The more you experience the blankness between thoughts, the more you can choose positivity, love, compassion, and abundance. The spirit is forever free and blissful, and touching that freedom helps the ego loosen its grip.

This understanding leads directly into the deeper work of purifying the inner database.

Understanding the Inner Database

In the midst of transformation, especially while doing sadhana (spiritual practice), changes can happen very fast. Sometimes there are days of sadness when we don’t understand why — but it is because parts of ourselves are being released.

We are all made up of memory, of karma, and as these dissolve, it can feel like loss. Yet our life is to find balance: to honor the good things, to cultivate peace within, and to allow the old to fall away so the new can emerge.

(Note: For someone not engaged in sadhana or under a teacher, sadness may point to other needs, and professional support such as a psychologist could be important.)

Purifying What No Longer Serves

Our immediate goal is to purify ourselves of negativity and remove the unnecessary from our database. We need strong faith, willpower, and keen intelligence to bring about this change.

The inability to adapt to change — even good change — keeps us from progressing spiritually and in every other area of life. For example, if we know a certain food causes indigestion and we keep eating it, then what about our other habits? Transformation requires awareness and courage.

So we must purge our database and stop adding unnecessary things to it.

One way is by watching our emotions — for example, anger — observing where they arise and how the energy moves. When we witness the flow of energy and let it leave the body, the emotion may still arise, but the event that caused it is no longer stored as a repeating seed.

Over time, we notice that anger has less hold on us, or that we can observe and respond with greater clarity. At the same time, we must nurture the positive impressions — those that bring joy, balance, and peace — so that our inner storehouse becomes a source of upliftment.

Action for Today

  • Develop strong willpower for the right things you want to change in your life, and set reasonable parameters to bring about the change you seek. Don’t waver.
  • Inspire yourself daily.
  • Always make 20 minutes of meditation part of your daily routine.

See how negative emotions and tendencies escape when you are completely in presence.
